How to obtain a referral?

The Better Access  program by Medicare provides rebates for psychology sessions. To access these Medicare rebates for your sessions, you will need a referral from your doctor, otherwise known as a Mental Health Care Plan. Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 sessions in a calendar year. Rebates may also be available through your private health insurance. If you would like to learn more, please do not hesitate to make contact.

What to expect?

In our first session, we will aim to get an understanding of what brought you to engage with psychology, as well as an appreciation for relevant aspects of your life journey thus far, including family, social and vocational history. We will explore your strengths, which areas you find challenging at the moment, as well as various supports that you may have in place. Finally, we will work together to establish what your goals are in therapy and how we might go about achieving them.

Starting therapy can often be daunting, so the goal is for this experience to be one which is both collaborative and supportive. Feedback is always welcome on how therapy is progressing and I will often check-in to ensure that we are on track and that you are finding it both helpful and engaging.
