Approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach draws from a range of evidence-based orientations, including cognitive therapies, mindfulness-based therapies and dialectical behaviour therapy. I also draw on a range of techniques that facilitate effective change, such as solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing. My aim is to work together with you to create a therapeutic setting which is both compassionate and supportive, whilst also gently challenging unhelpful assumptions, perceptions or thought patterns that you may find are getting in the way. My personal approach to therapy is rooted in principles of respect and non-judgemental acceptance, whilst also incorporating elements of humour and playfulness.

I am a registered clinical psychologist and my qualifications include a Master in Counselling and a Master of Clinical Psychology. My practice operates in accordance the the APS ethical guidelines and is informed by ongoing professional developments and clinical supervision in line with professional requirements. I have completed postgraduate research in the area of emotional intelligence and coping styles, and the relationship between meaning and mindfulness.
